The Beast From Anaheim

We spotted a familiar face on this utility meter while walking around the 18b Arts District. Looking a little like something from a 50's Sci-Fi movie, with the head of Mickey Mouse and the body of a wasp with a rather large stinger. We have a product of mad street scientist Zork, who we haven't seen in the streets in awhile so it is a welcome and frightening sight. He offers us a smiling and happy Mickey who is sorta of showcasing the artists name with his hand, but is he giving a warning with that dangerous looking stinger? We really enjoy this black and white and almost retro looking piece. Zork had really been going large with his pieces and doing some cool new things before he disappeared from the street, so we hope to see more and soon. The utility meter's neighbor is absolutely slammed with so many stickers that we won't even attempt to name any of the people and artists, so just check em out if you get a chance! Or better yet, get some stickers of your own and join em!

Double Barn

We spotted another RM "Serene" AKA Skyn3t piece in North Vegas recently, riding on a utility electrical box on the corner of Lone Mountain and Camino Al Norte. Two identical pasters with images of Don Knotts as Barney Fife from The Andy Griffith Show that has been gladly stuck in syndication since the 70's. With the added words "Freeze Punk!" in the old Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine typeface, later made popular by the punk band The Misfits which kinda seems outta place with the image. No idea how long ago these went up, but the logo top left helps us identify the artist, which is helpful. From the looks of these pieces, they've been there awhile judging by the amount of sun bleaching. Or is this just a printer running out of ink? Either way, its a fairly interesting juxtaposition of image and text. We hardly see any artwork from this artist, and can't help but wonder. Are these leftovers from an artist that used to hit the streets, has this person already moved onto another medium? If we by chance spot a new piece, I guess we'll answer our own question. So, we'll wait and see.     

Backward Gaze

Drsc0 meets up with some older LaRON Emcee and D*Face pieces on the electrical box on Fremont and 8th. The third of his trilogy of pieces put up on his latest mission around town, we really enjoy this image. A black and white print of a topless woman, with her back exposed and what looks like a yellow material wrapped around her bottom half. Finished off with bright red lips and an over the shoulder gaze to catch you while you stare at her nakedness. It feels like such a delicate image next to the rips and tears from the Xerox skull guys leftover pieces, which aren't helping anyone's artwork besides his own. We like how all the different styles are coming together in this one location, from hand painted to tags to graphic design. This one spot has it covered, and we look forward to new pieces joining in on this Fremont Street location.

Dopl View

During an evening excursion to The Flamingo we spotted this Dopl sticker while we were waiting around for the elevator. Looks like its been there for a good while too, with little picks and scratches around the border. Dopl is very active and visual artist around this city, you can always seem to find a sticker and/or tag with his name if you look. Stickers are such a huge part of the scene here, and yes we do realize we say that with almost every sticker post. But dammit, its true! Dopl is one of the few sticker artists we like, he always seems to change it up and that is what we enjoy. Between Dopl, Indecline, Aware, Visual Bluff and others, almost every inch of this city is slammed. Keep it up and keep getting up!

Unleaded Supreme Leader

This interesting piece from someone called Skyn3t was found on a North Vegas gasoline pump, kind of a weird spot so we had to stop. We found a very familiar image within the world of street art, Kim Jong Un. But with the added flat top hairdo to update his own or this piece? We aren't too sure what they are shooting for to be honest,  But we did find this image curious enough to stop and take and photo. Upon further investigation to see who made this piece we found some familiar images that we've been seeing lately and the artists name RM "Serene". Not really sure what the deal is with the two names but sometimes artists like to keep people just a bit off the scent, hmmm could be right? Well at least we known for certain that we are spotting new artists with new work hitting new spots around town, so lets keep it up people!

Street Testing

We found this series of images that resemble Rorschach tests under the decaying Indecline piece in the 18b. These artist unknown pieces look sorta like someone spray painted some parts or shapes and liked the leftovers, or these could look way different to you depending on your psychological make up. We've been looking pretty hard for anything to post on the building on Coolidge and 1st, you have to read between the lines with all the crap all over that place. Seems like artists are kinda letting their pieces go and hitting other spots since people are just writing their own shit on other peoples art. Sadly the 18b Arts District is rife with spot jackers and people that think adding some bullshit stencil or tag to another artists piece is somehow ok. We've seen one of the same stencils used on these walls in an artists artwork during a First Friday event, in fact they pointed it out to us as we walked by. "This is my artwork!" "Uh, sorry" was our only reply.

Poer Sight

When we first started visiting the Las Vegas area, Poer was one of the first artists we noticed on the streets. With their staple black and white image of digital text and hand symbol spelling out their name, a solid image with the artist using an ever revolving variations of the design. It was just the kind of art we enjoyed. Always hitting killer and out of the way spots, so much so that we've never been able to stop and grab a photo til now! In fact, this photo was taken passing by slowly in a car. Found just past the Galleria at Sunset shopping mall in Henderson.

Puzzle Action

We found another missing piece of the puzzle, and it was right under our noses the whole time!  Local artist, singer and pizza lover Dan45 has been leaving these mysterious orange puzzle pieces around town. We've spotted a few and wrote about them here and here, but we are kinda in disbelief that this piece was in the 18b and we never saw it! Til now! This guy must have been riding for almost a year in this well hidden (from us) spot, and still looks great for the amount of time and elements its endured. A testimonial to Dan45's artwork and craft, cuz its pretty damn tough to get a piece to be interesting, good AND durable. Kudos!

Maus Haus

Strych9 brings us another piece of his artwork to the 18b Arts District. An old hospital X-ray with a stenciled image of Adolph Hitler with the head of Mickey Mouse, complete with the Sieg Heil salute in an attempt to further his point and meaning. Which I guess, is pretty damn open to interpitation to us. He could mean an entire world of of possibilities with this piece, but we have yet to crack the code.  

Twins

Another Typical Bandito piece spotted in the 18b Arts District, this time on Charleston and Casino. This poster featuring two pornstars from Vivid Entertainment Group had been hand painted painted and their facial features exaggerated. The bodies have been painted reminiscent of tribal tattoo artwork, with added delicate flower looking designs and some interesting sliced bodies in there. They have a sort of 80's feel to them, with the bright colors and line work through their hair. They are a very interesting pair and fun piece that brings color and life to the streets of Las Vegas. 

Paint It Black

The mysterious artist known as B3 opens a door for us in the 18b Arts District. This piece is quite rich in detail and a ton of possible hidden meanings.....Or is that just us reading into stuff? Well anyway, this hand drawn piece looks like it took a bit of time to finish. It is always a great to see an artist takes their time on an illegal piece, be it paint, paste or ink. We enjoy it all and this piece is no different. 

Red, White and Dekoe

Dekoe gets a little high in the 18b Arts District with a new piece between The Teacher/Thrashbird collab and Milk the Bunny's older piece. Using his icon gritted teeth face for a multicolor and to us a decidedly more patriotic looking image this time. The wheatpaste even yellowed in the heat and sunlight, which somehow makes it look even MORE patriotic to us. Sorta reminds us if Dekoe was doing street art in the last Bioshock game or something, hmmmm at least to our nerdy gaming eyes it does. Cool piece either way!

Crowded Corner

LaRON Emcee brings his collection of Gary Everywhere stickers to the 18b Arts District. We're not sure of the exact identities of these guys or what his Gary Everywhere series actually means, but we do know that these are some damn solid handpainted images on these stickers. We are more familiar with LaRON's brightly painted pupiless eyed characters, but this just shows us a whole new side of his artwork. Pretty cool!

The Hobo Code

Alexander Skyski gets up with some cryptic collage artwork in the 18b Arts District. Two colorful cut out letters with the text "66 Hobos" written on them. An E with "E is for every artist" on it, and to the left an N with all kinds of stuff on it. Nothing starting N strangely enough, but it does have the gem "don't let the TV fuk you" written on it. Joined by a collage of a woman on a colorful multi-patterned background Not a clue what they mean or what the hell this is all about, so.. We'll just go with cryptic, yeah? 

Mystery Solved

We've been seeing this face on art around town but didn't know the artist responsible. Well now we know its Las Vegas artist Dekoe Jones with one of his multiple tiled images, surrounded by tags and stickers from different artists. Dekoe1 has been a prominent fixture on the Vegas art scene for awhile now, always using different techniques and mediums on walls and galleries alike. This time, tiling 9 images to make a larger piece on this Casino Drive wall.

Cloudy Collab

Milk the Bunny returns with a whole slew of new collab pieces with Danman, in fact so many that we aren't exactly sure where this piece was located! Oops, our bad! Well anyway, this piece has a bright yellow sun at its center with Danman and MTB's characters both in view. Floating clouds. swirls and both artists' hashtags for easy identification. Just one of their fun collab images around town, keep an eye out for em!!

Street Preaching

The Boulder Strip is always an entertaining people watching drive, so much so that we almost missed this piece and had to double back. A black and white text driven piece with the words "GOD'S NAWT DEAD!" with bible passage at the bottom. We originally thought this might be a piece from The One Four Six but it turns out its actually a local artist named That's Truth! Interesting. Found outside the Eastside Cannery on Boulder.

Notice Me!

Zork returns with what has to be the smallest tiled street art image we've ever seen! 6 small pieces of paper meticulously tiled into a 8 1/2 X 11 to reveal their image, and it looks to be done on the fly and not beforehand. You gotta applaud the effort of Zork for putting in the work and having patience for tiling an image on the street, but damn that is an awfully small image next to that huge Indecline piece trying to get noticed! But then again, we DID notice it now didn't we? Found on the Coolidge wall in the 18b Arts District.

Branded

Visual Bluff and Indecline team up for a downtown mission, hitting those damn leftover spray cans from Life is Beautiful. To us the cans look almost as good as D*Face's cans, but there are too many inconsistencies that just don't match his level of craft for us to believe they are the real deal. Both artists uses large wheatpaste images to give these cans a much needed update. They have a finished and almost official branded look with these perfectly placed logos popping off the drab concrete. Some great quality stuff from these two, time for us all to step up our game! 

Professional Weirdos

Avantarded; with his Professional Weirdos section of his collab with Olsenink on this wheatpaste mural of sorts in the 18b Arts District. Using his black and white on Kraft paper style with a wide selection of characters done in subtle different styles, perfectly clean lines alongside beautifully splattered sections make this piece come alive with all its detail. This wall at Charleston and Casino is gaining strength with the addition of such pieces, it is great to see Las Vegas street art move outward into increasingly bigger areas.
