Art Saves

The other day we came across this little paint and ink paster of a gentlemen holding a gun in one hand and a sign in the other. His tiny hand-drawn sign says "Art Saves" and we couldn't agree more but.... We're guessing the gun is just there for his protection then? Found on the corner of Boulder Ave and First in the 18b Arts District.

Tangled Lines

Olsenink returns to the 18b Arts District with this impressive new wheatpaste piece, looks like it might be a quality print of of his original designs but we aren't 100% sure. The soft colored lines and shapes contrast the dark tangled lines of hair, flowers and some great details in there. It is a shame someone tagged on top of it, but then again.. That is the name of the game now isn't it?

Beauty From Tragedy

Milk the Bunny gets up with an artistic response to the Charlie Hebdo shooting tragedy in Paris a few short weeks ago, replacing her usual bunny unicorn horn with a No. 2 Pencil in this brightly painted piece. The phrase Je suis Charlie ("I am Charlie") written on top of a French flag. In the artists words... "freedom of expression. as an artist, one must live a life full of pure expression. if we let fear enter, we cease to have a voice. defy fear and milk the bunny." The addition of someone's lighter left as a tribute completes this piece, found in the 18b Arts District.

You're Welcome!

A recent visit to the Henderson area finds some stickers from Where's Warhol, Pesci and others.
Las Vegas and the immediate surrounding areas seems to always be hit fairly heavy with stickers, even certain sections of the Strip can uncover stickers if you look in the right places. This parking lot is no different, artists using what they can to get up....and stay up!

Stay Out!

Another visit to the 18b Arts District finds this tiny door to nowhere, with a warning for the viewer to "STAY OUT".
This artist unknown wheatpaste piece looks to be done with construction paper with hand painted purple letters, complete with a ripped section to match the previously posted piece....well, more than likely not. But sometimes ya gotta appreciate unintentional continuity, right?!

Stencil G

A number of stencil pieces from an unknown artist have been popping up around the 18b Arts District, this recent image of a woman's face seems to be less rushed, cleaner and more solid than previously seen work. But then again the work looks very much like Olsenink's style of stencil, but we aren't 100% sure. Nor are we sure if someone spray painted that red letter G after the fact, but it does give a more finished feel to it.

Exit Through The Thrift Store

A familiar image recently floated into in the 18b Arts District, a red heart balloon on a string...
Hmm...where have we seen this before? Spanky, Panky, Blanksy? Well anyway, it was something like that.
This piece was pasted and it appears they finished the grease pen string in the street, the 8 lines and following punctuation add to this artist unknown mystery.
