On The Down Low

Man, this guy! Dekoe shows us that no place is too high, low, big or small to hit! Using a color sticker with his character, he hits a small outlet of some sort. Dekoe has really been keeping busy doing legit work on The Strip all the while keeping it street by getting up illegally, and it doesn't look like he plans on stopping any time soon! By hitting small places like this, he is starting to come up fast on Indecline with the familiarity of seeing his images. We always enjoy all the different mediums the artists chooses to use, cuz you can count on it being different each time. Something we enjoy in street art is a constant changing background, and more often than not. A constant changing foreground as well, and it seems that since we've started this blog the scene has really picked up. We are awful proud to have captured some of it, for even just a small moment. The Las Vegas street art scene is growing, we love it and like to think that we might even have played a small part! Whether that is true or not, who knows? But here we are, still taking photos and posting them. Thanks all!

Paste Oddity

Wow, another celebrity sighting but this time we had to look a little higher. Well, figuratively speaking that is.
While looking at these barred windows in the 18b Arts District, we happened to spot a tiny hand painted portrait of Chris Hadfield. The Canadian astronaut that famously recorded a cover of David Bowie's Space Oddity while aboard the International Space Station, and even made a video to accompany the song! We love his tribute and we love this little tribute on a 228 to him. Which looks like a mix of (from what we can tell) ink, paint and some watercolors that make this a fun find from There She Is. Who has been putting up flyers as well as artwork for a gallery show with her art partner You Killed Me First at Eden Art Studio & Gallery, seems like these two are trying to make a leap from the grime to the gallery. We wonder how that'll all go down, stay tuned to find out.

Checkered Cone

Directly catty-corner from our last post, we find this collection of mismatched images and art. Below the flyers and ads for local businesses we have peeled stickers and tags of all colors. We can make out a few of them, like we see the I.S.I. tiger image and a Blue Swan Records sticker under a pink tag. The favorite one of ours and also the one to grab our attention is that little ice cream cone sticker. We have not one clue on who this is, or what "Free Cauwod" even means! Honestly, we are pretty much guessing that is what it says. Hmmm, could be the letter D, could be the letter P. But still, a fun little black and white drawn image either way, and we love that checkerboard cone pattern too. We might have to look at more of these pedestrian crossing buttons for sure, seems like there is more action happening here than we thought!

Faded

While on another one of our casino adventure debacles, we happened to spot this sticker in the Stratosphere parking garage stairwell. What were we doing hanging out in the stairwell, more than likely we were up to no good. This sticker from KBF "Kant Be Faded Mob" is simple with design and font choice, but it works. You can usually find a good amount of stickers that haven't been found and removed in the casino parking garages around town. With the huge amount of people that travel through this town, its always interesting to stop and have a look. You can always find some cool stuff, as well as some boring and terrible stuff for that matter. But that is pretty much the name of the game, isn't it? Good and/or bad, we enjoy seeing it all. We tried to look up who this was, but couldn't really find anything about who/what/why. So there ya go, can't be faded and can't be found. Gotcha!

A Warning

A new warning has appeared in the 18b Arts District, and it is pretty damn awesome. Hack The Mack gets up with a Neighborhood Watch type sticker, only his program supports all suspicious activities! At first glace we thought this was just a normal sticker and we are glad we took another look, cuz its hilarious. A hooded man with the name Trap Man emblazoned on his ski-mask greets you with a smile under the text warning, with all the correct colors to make this sticker really work. After some investigation, we found out that this is a sticker for some rapper or musician or whatever. Which kinda sucks, cuz we feel that this is far more interesting as a piece of artwork instead of another advertisement. But then again, it did grab our attention and held in for a good while. Well, until we figured out who and what it was for. But hey looks like this sticker design worked either way, so you fully got us this time. Nice job!

Electrical Disconnect

As much as the city likes to keep Las Vegas clean, you just can't escape the multitude of people getting up with stickers. This spot in the 18b Arts District is usually slammed with stickers til it got buffed recently, but as you can tell it is building up steam again. From stencils to tags to stickers, this spot is fast becoming the best roll call spot to be seen and noticed when you are in the 18b. We always enjoy the sometimes vast differences between artists styles and sticker choices, be it a homemade job or a professionally printed sticker. It is always interesting to see how people like to get their message out there, no matter what it is! What can be seen as blight to some can be seen as hardwork and art to others, we like to take the time to enjoy the art and effort of these artists. But then again, of course we would! We run a street art blog, so much for that..

Same Bat Time

We caught some newer stickers on a metal utility pole walking around in search of some art, and we just couldn't help but stop and take a photo of this sticker from DANP & ESF. We love the old school Batman design and colors, we aren't much for some other sticker designs most of the time and we think they tend to be either boring or just a mismatch of random images all crowded on one sticker. This one comes off so solid and completely retro, no idea what its about but its such a great design that we are already into whatever those two are selling. Surrounded by other black and white designs from Hype BCS, Sloby and the always on the case and in your face Aware, they almost fade into the background but holy bright stickers Batman! DANP & ESF's image is popping and jumping at you like crazy, a great and eye catching design. Whatever it is, we dig it!

Dopl View

During an evening excursion to The Flamingo we spotted this Dopl sticker while we were waiting around for the elevator. Looks like its been there for a good while too, with little picks and scratches around the border. Dopl is very active and visual artist around this city, you can always seem to find a sticker and/or tag with his name if you look. Stickers are such a huge part of the scene here, and yes we do realize we say that with almost every sticker post. But dammit, its true! Dopl is one of the few sticker artists we like, he always seems to change it up and that is what we enjoy. Between Dopl, Indecline, Aware, Visual Bluff and others, almost every inch of this city is slammed. Keep it up and keep getting up!

Product Placement

Well here we go with another year of Las Vegas Street Art, hope you all are ready cuz we sure are! It is starting to look like gas stations are a great place to spot new art, or a good place to look when you fill your tank at least. We recently spotted 3 eggshell stickers from local graphic artist d0z3n in North Vegas, and we are really digging these familiar backgrounds straight away. But the thing that makes these stickers to us are the hand drawn pieces on top. The juxtaposition of Coke, Oreo and Heinz logos, mixed with hand finished artwork really makes these stand out amongst a giant city of artists and stickers. The mix of digital and organic works well with these, and it makes us very interested in seeing more of d0z3n's work in the near future. Til then, these will do just fine.

Ransom Face

Chicago artist Lolo Popacopolous (A.K.A Popacop) recently came though Las Vegas, and we've spotted a few of their "Monkey see" stickers around the 18b Arts District. This design is a crazy mashup of imagery that looks like a collaged image that has been inked and painted, this design is pretty interesting all the way around when you first see it. We don't have a clue what its all about but its eyecatching, even at a distance. It looks like this guy is puking illegible strips of text, even though he has a joint in his mouth which must be tough. There are little weird things all over this guy, piercings, a star mustache and teardrop tattoos, baseball cap, a cigarette behind the ear, money for eyes and that quarter on the forehead. With more smudged and illegible text, we don't know what this guy is saying but somehow we are still listening.

Official Stickers Only

We found this collection in an alley right off Fremont Street, the same alley from a few posts ago. This location is definitely getting hit harder with stickers and wheatpaste pieces from local and out of town artists. The usual group of Vegas heavy hitters Indecline, Visual Bluff and Dopl are always representing and this sign ain't no different. Joined by Irot, Eastside, Tenr, Hekr and some random tags, this sign is hit pretty hard and we don't see any sign of this spot slowing down. From the stickers on the signs on one side of the alley, to the other being blasted with bigger wheatpaste pieces. We think its safe to say, this spot is catching fire!

Big Duke

We spotted a few stickers and tags in a Wal-Mart parking lot of all places, sometimes ya gotta get up when ya shop I guess. But amongst the tags and some random shoe sticker, we spotted the face of Big Duke from Psycho Realm. A Los Angeles rapper who was tragically paralyzed by a gunshot while trying to break up a fight. Kind of a cool image for a tribute to the artist, we wonder who is putting these out? And at Wal-Mart much less, well I mean we did see them, photograph them, and now you're reading about it. So yeah, job well done!

Tilt!

We found this cute little dude outside of The Pinball Hall of Fame the other day, hey we gotta have fun sometimes too dammit! Anyway, we found him hanging with a bunch of other stickers on a parking lot pole. We instantly loved the logo and wanted to know who it was, only to find out that its for a band. Which is cool n stuff, we just dig the image on the sticker a whole lot more. The sticker game is pretty damn huge here, you can find from artists to straight out ads stuck all over this town. Some done by hand and some screened by a professional printer, it is always a treat to find one outta the thousands that you enjoy. Like the Nomad SF sticker, we pretty much love that and hell we took our piercings out like 10 years ago! Great finds all over this town, ya just gotta look for em!

Stuck Up Posse

LaRON Emcee's collection of Gary Everywhere on the corner of Coolidge and 1st has had some new recruits added. Obviously not from LaRON's collection, this is a whole new set of people adding their mark. A couple of tag stickers, some new faces and a Jim Jones pisstake on the old Andre the Giant Has a Posse sticker. This little spot was completely dead for a bit til LaRON hit it, now its back strong! Awesome!

Are Friends Electric?

Back behind the Downtown Spaces we found a wide selection of artists and art on the back utility boxes. A group ranging from Recycled Propaganda, Avantarded, There She Is, You Killed Me First, 3RDi, 3 Bad Sheep and some evil ass looking Grinch stencil that is awesome! Plus a bunch of others that are great but we just don't know who they are! So sorry, no credit or props for you this time! Cool to catch these different artists with different styles and techniques in this little private street art show.

Odd Couple

We found this couple stuck outside the parking structure on 7th, and they make quite the pair. Both stickers are helping each artist do the same job, but they are completely different. The black and white "smoking monkey" sticker looks to be a professionally done, meanwhile "Mr. Orange Face" is hand drawn by the artist on a postal slap. Not really saying either is better than the other, just saying. Stickers kind of rule this town quantitywise, always a huge selection of artists, colors and styles to be seen on the streets, signs, etc...

Bitchface!

Undead Invasion recently came through town and hit multiple Las Vegas hotspots, we found one of thier large Bitchface stickers riding downtown on 9th between Fremont and Carson. NVAZN uses multiple techniques in their artwork, using screen printing and/or multi-layered stenciled images of Zombies in various stages of decay. Our favorite design of theirs has gotta be zombie Biebster, dead as hell and not singing anymore. Now that is some damn great stuff! There is more and more quality artwork appearing in the streets of Vegas, be it local or visiting artists. The street art scene here is growing by the day, so lets keep it going strong people!

Bunny Business

We recently came across this interesting sticker in the alley behind the Beauty Bar, kinda like a fish with bunny ears. (Wow, more bunnies?!??!) After some research, it turns out to be a sticker for a local interior designer firm... Companies that have money for legit advertising but put in effort to try to look and/or appear street are kinda funny. It's almost like we are back in Los Angeles again, yeah that's not a complement.

Almost Everyone

Los Angeles street artist All The Girls Love Earl gets up in the 18b Arts District with a large sticker,
but it appears that not everyone loves Earl by the looks of that ripped sticker. What gives?! Our guess is someone tried to steal this sticker, Earl's artwork is some of the cleanest and tightest we've seen. Be it on the street or wherever. Always straight up quality and it is damn great to see it here in Vegas.

Fire Woman

A woman stares out waiting to meet your gaze from a doorway in the 18b Arts District, a striking and quite beautiful piece using nine postal slaps layered onto each other to create one large sticker. Stenciled with an image of a woman who really stands out against the background. Found on 1st Street, artist unknown.
