The Cleaners

We spotted a couple of new hand painted pasters from There She Is and You Killed Me First in between downtown and The Strip. Right in front of Super Cleaners, on Las Vegas Blvd and Gass to be exact. Since relocating from Los Angeles to Las Vegas a few years ago, these two have been working together hand and hand in the streets to make their presence known. Be it with small black and white pasters or with huge neon colored pieces, they are felt on the streets to be sure. There She Is offers us an image of the Gorgon sister better known as Medusa, with her trademark large eyes and pouty lips make this a striking portrait. Complete with snakes slithering around on her head as hair, she beckons you closer with her gaze to meet your fate. What will it be, hmmm? You Killed Me First continues his tour of Disneyland (so to speak) with another on of his Haunted Mansion plaque takeovers. YKMF has been using the Disney theme park as inspiration for street art for years, and apparently he isn't going to let up any time soon. It seems to us that these two have been inspired as of late, as we keep spotting new pieces from the duo around town. We can't wait to see what new and well, sometimes warped new artwork they will get up with. Stay tuned!

Headless Children

At first glace we were kinda horrified at this latest piece, but after closer inspection it wasn't some kid cut in half like our warped minds thought.. Well it IS technically, but it is half of a whole piece from Milk The Bunny. Had we not caught her show at Twisted Gallery, we might have not known this was a smaller version of her "Swinging Baby Omy" canvas piece from said show. This self portrait of the artist as a small child was also used to promote her show, and we just happened to catch it on the street. It was kinda tough to spot on this wall on 1st, cuz that spot is getting jam packed with artwork of all kinds. Some great, some good but seemingly mostly bad. So to us, this is a little bright spot on the wall or window rather. The artist has this to say about this piece, "Swinging Baby Omy depicts the magic of being free". We can relate to the feeling of being young and free, but at this point its just a feeling to relate to with us. Artwork can transport you to a different time and/or feeling, but sometimes you just need to know where to look. Be it in the world or within yourself, and this time we found it!

Torn Away

Another visit to the North side of town reveals a piece that has seen better days. This ripped image of a woman's face looks like the logo of RM "Serene" AKA Skyn3t, if not then someone is ripping him off. No pun intended. We love how it almost looks like the woman is peaking out from behind the torn edges, it kinda makes the piece to us! She has a very sultry look in her eyes as she peaks at you, almost to let you know that she is still a beautiful woman. No matter what scars she has, she is still confidant and definitely lets you know it with one look. The environment and/or some random passerby can sometimes elevate a piece of work to another level simply by touching it or tearing it. It looks to us that someone took the time to pick at both of these and we have to thank them, they made these pieces stand out. We highly doubt that was their intent, but it is what it is now.

Gloomy Girl

Just a few days ago we were cruising around North Vegas and we just so happened to spot a beautiful face on the side of the road. This artist unknown piece really grabbed out attention with this simple yet detailed image of a woman with braids and buns in her hair. Surrounded by a halo of dots that make the image of the woman just leap off the piece, we really enjoy this style and wish we knew who made this! On closer inspection we see that some incredibly smart individual felt the need to draw a penis and write "thes nuts" under where the artist tilted the piece "Rain". This mystery artist leaves a lot to be desired and for the life of us we just can't figure out why someone would do this. I mean, unless you are 12 years old or something. Drawing and spelling skills might give us a clue to who or what they are, so thanks but no thanks! You can't really see those additions when you are driving past this piece on Craig and Buffalo, so all in all. It ain't too bad!

She Can Do it!

Another trip and yet another new find from Milk The Bunny in the 18b Arts District. It is the familiar face of Rosie the Riveter, the Wolrd War II cultural icon used to represent the American woman working in factories. Just like in the J. Howard Miller Westinghouse version of this poster, we have Rosie showing her muscle and moxie with the words "We Can Do It!". An inspirational image taken over by Omayra Amador and given a MTB makeover of sorts with this smaller print on the Coolridge building. Little things like her bunny ear logo on Rosie's bottom make us smile, cuz sometimes to us the subtle details can make a way bigger picture and we like that. Staying true to her almost psychedelic color pallet, we have her using yellows and pinks to make this piece really work and really her own. Omayra Amador has really let us all know that "She Can Do It" by being so visual with many new pieces updating old spots around town, she makes us feel lazy when we see all the new pieces and spots. Keep it up, cuz you ARE doing it Milk The Bunny!

Don't Read This

Wait, don't look here! Too late, It's Me It's Erik with an interesting piece right in between The Strip and Downtown. IE hit a bunch of good spots on his latest mission and this spot is a killer heavy traffic spot, we love how many eyes are gonna look at this just to be told to not look. We love street artwork that can interact with the public and this piece does just that, yeah maybe its not the most helpful info but at least its interesting and humorous. Humor can be something that is sometimes lacking in street art, or at least good humor so we are glad to see it back, so to speak. IE with his trademark artistic style here with the black and drawn images on kraft paper pasted onto a vacant building on Las Vegas Blvd. We've seen a few older pieces pretty much turn to dust from riding there from so long in this spot, now the countdown has begun for this piece. Can it go the distance, only time will tell.

No Trespassing

Whoa, another Marty McFly from Back To The Future? What are the chances? Apparently pretty good, but this one looks like it has been on this No Trespassing sign for a damn long time. This artist unknown piece was found in a huge vacant lot in North Las Vegas, we had to park and walk for a bit to be able to photograph it. From a distance this looks like it might have been a stenciled piece, but when we got up close we saw it was a digital image that had been tiled. Quite the colorful and almost patriotic looking piece, but the missing piece in the face makes it feel unfinished to us. If we knew the artist we would investigate and see what is up with that! But we don't, so we won't. A fairly good example of an image that works from distance and from a speeding car, but you can't really make out who it is to be honest. We had no idea who or what it was til we got up close, but it still caught our attention with the reds and blues. As faded as they were, they still were working at catching someones eye.

Everybody Say Cheese

Artist unknown paster found on the corner of Boulder and 1st in the 18b Arts District. A small crudely cut image of a photographer pointing his camera at.... Uh something? No added text, no nothing! Zero to let us know who this is or what this is all about. Is someone trying to advertise a photography service with bad vector art and no info, or is this just someone having fun with their first piece? I'll just let you guys decide on this one. 

Box Hawg

A fancy pig is surrounded by art and waiting on the corner of Charleston and Casino.
This little guy painted in pink & black looks pretty dapper with his bowtie on yellowed paper,
complete with uni-brow and hair curl on top. He waits patiently for..... Well, whatever he is waiting for.

Booty Had Me Like

We came across this group of stickers and pasters hanging out by the alley recently.
The girl and Dali might be from the same artist, they seem to have the same super contrasted vibe,
the other Ying & Yang design looks to be a colored pen drawing that reminds us of a child's drawing.
All different styles and techniques from these unknown artists, found in the 18b Arts District.

Group Meeting

A multi-piece collage of art is waiting for you in the alley behind the Velveteen Rabbit in the 18b.
This wall features an array of colors and different styles of artwork by various artists.
These out of the way, almost hidden pieces are always satisfying to find when you locate them.
A little effort can go a long way in this town, be it from the artist or just simply looking for art.

Alley Oops

We discovered someone in the alley behind Velveteen Rabbit having a bit of a break this weekend.
Tucked away from prying eyes and the graffiti, we have a hooded hipster kid relieving himself.
The amount of stained piss on the ground makes this piece work extremely well with its surroundings,
but it almost comes off like more of an instructional manual than artwork. Artist unknown.

Super Buddies

Check out these cute little guys we found at Coolidge and 1st in the 18b Arts District.
Pasters of Spiderman and Batman as toddlers done with colored markers by an unknown artist.
These little heroic buddies look great against the buff gray background and instantly put a smile on our faces.

Sun Bloc

Driving around the industrial area of Henderson we came across this image from Bloc. (Artist?)
Not sure if this is a sticker or a paster, but it looks like its been baking in the sun for years!

Fish Out Of Water

A Koi Fish piece by an unknown artist has found a home at Wilson and Las Vegas Blvd,
a black and white print with beautifully hand painted colors and spots that we really enjoy. 
We are always appreciative of quality work that stands out, so keep it up!

Coolridge Ad Venue

Another new addition to the Coolridge Avenue spot in the 18b Arts District.
This time an attempt at a tiled paster image, pretty loose on the tiling though to be honest.
Street art is being used more and more for advertising whatever product people are selling,
what the hell happened to just good street art for good street arts sake? Oh yeah, its now an ad!

The Girl With Stabbie Hands

Another find in the alley off Fremont Street, this area keeps getting hit more and more!
This time with a nicely distressed paster with the hashtag stabbiehands on a tag filled recycling trash can.

Dirty & Happy

Just off Fremont right behind the shops and bars, you can always find a varied selection of characters.
This little distressed, smiling and unknown cone caught our eye amongst the tags on our most recent and....
um, fragrant trip down the alley.

Screaming at the Door

New paster added to We Are Zombies sticker door install off Fremont Street,
halftone image of a screaming woman with a sprayed pattern on top adding another interesting level of detail.

Fat Cat Alley

Found this little paster of a beer swigging & apparently male cat behind a Thai food place,
joined by an Aware sticker on the side of a cooking waste disposal bin with a nice pile of fat and/or lard on top. Yummy!
